Free Art Talk with Rudolph Castro

Mercado369 - Jefferson

Join us for a special Art Talk with Castro, on Saturday, January 12th from 2 to 3 p.m. at Mercado369, located at 369 W. Jefferson Blvd, Dallas, TX 75208. Rudolph Castro, acclaimed artist from Peru, will delve deep into the process of his exhibition, "Sixty-Two Hours of Travel, Fifty-Nine Years in the South", where he toured three South American countries: Argentina, Chile, and Paraguay. The project consisted of interviewing the protagonists and families who experienced, in their own flesh, the violence unleashed against society by the military regimes between the 1960 and 1990 in South America.

In this exhibition, stories of objects of great symbolic content become materials that take relevance in the light of the memories they evoke. This is how the stories of the victims speak through their objects, collected, donated and carefully chosen by Castro to know and recognize the words, stories and memories that they contain.

Following the Art Talk at Mercado369, the exhibition, "Sixty-Two Hours of Travel, Fifty-Nine Years in the South" will open at 3:30 p.m. at the Oak Cliff Cultural Center, located at 223 W Jefferson Blvd, Dallas, TX 75208. Admission is free and can be seen from Jan12th through February 16th.
