This year’s featured keynote speaker, is a Peabody award-winning writer, executive producer, and Dallas native, Wendy Calhoun. She is a writer and executive producer with an overall deal at Warner Bros. Television Studios where she’s currently developing LEAN ON ME for the CW and STRONG JUSTICE for NBC. She has developed new series pilots with Netflix, FX, 20th TV Studios, and ABC Signature. She’s written and produced for ABC’s STATION 19, NASHVILLE, and REVENGE, and FX’s JUSTIFIED. Calhoun received a 2010 Peabody Award for JUSTIFIED. Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Calhoun is an alumna of Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (known initially as Arts Magnet High School). She studied film and television at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
To celebrate his last term with the City, the Dallas Arts District will honor Mayor Mike Rawlings for his unwavering support of the arts and culture in Dallas.
Known as the “Arts Mayor,” Mayor Rawlings has been an unwavering cheerleader for arts and culture in Dallas. He has understood the importance and impact of the arts on the City’s economy and quality of life. Americans for the Arts and The United States Conference of Mayors awarded Mayor Rawlings the 2018 National Award for Local Arts Leadership for cities with a population of 100,000 or more.
