Join us for a weekend of events featuring world-renowned storyteller Mark Yaconelli.
On Saturday, November 17 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., join us for a workshop with Mark in which participants will learn how to tell their stories and why telling our stories matters. The workshop is open to the public and costs $15 (covering lunch). Childcare is provided if requested when registering online at www.fpcdallas.org/mark-yaconelli.
On Saturday evening from 6:30 - 8:30, join us in Byrd Hall for a time of storytelling and music for the whole family. Attendees need not have attended the morning workshop and there is no cost for this event.
Mark will also preach at both the 8:30 a.m. and 10:50 a.m. worship services on Sunday, November 18.
ABOUT MARK:
Mark Yaconelli is a writer, speaker, storyteller, retreat leader, spiritual director, community activist, disco dancer, husband, and father. He is the founder and executive director of The Hearth: Real Stories by Regular Folks, a registered non-profit that employs personal storytelling practices to help communities and individuals deepen relationships, address injustices, and cultivate compassion. Mark has produced and directed story-based projects for agencies across the United States and United Kingdom including The Center for Congregations, The Lilly Foundation, The Oregon State Department of Humanities, The Ford Family Foundation, The Church in Wales, Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, The Boys and Girls Club, Asante Hospice, and many other institutions and agencies. Mark speaks to a variety of audiences each year across North America and the United Kingdom including The Greenbelt Arts Festival, Compassion International, The National Youth Workers Convention (U.K., Canada, and U.S.), The Salvation Army, The Global Gathering for Spirituality and Justice, The National Presbyterian Youth Triennium, and many other events and organizations. He has authored five books, the most recent is "The Gift of Hard Things: Finding Grace in Unexpected Places."
