Auditions for the play "BIRMINGHAM STILL BURNING," produced by Blacken Blues Theater

SYNOPSIS OF THE PLAY

A wealthy black business owner supports a controversial political position betraying a generation of African American youths.  His wife pressures him to sell the business and make amends with his conscious.  However, the story takes an awkward twist when their only daughter, returns home to quench an unnatural thirst.  “Birmingham Still Burning” is a captivating drama that weaves through the American Dream and family nightmares.  Money can’t free your mind. 

 CHARACTERS (4 BM; 2 BF)

JAKE: Black male: (60s) – a wealthy African American businessman
CAMILLE: Black female: (60s) – Jake’s social conscious but high maintenance wife
CHYNA: Black female: (30 – 40) – Jake’s spoiled daughter
JARROD: Black male: (30 – 40) – Jake’s manic depressant son
BANTU: Black male: (30 – 50) Chyna’s husband, a reformed Jamaican drug dealer now activist

Requirements:

2.  One minute prepared monologue 
3.  Be prepared to cold read from script
