On October 18 at 11am, Eastfield College is hosting a keynote lecture by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Art Spiegelman, whose award-winning graphic novel, Maus, was selected as Eastfield's 2018-2019 Common Book. Maus, a complex & difficult-to-categorize piece, is a work of both fiction & non-fiction; in it, Spiegelman interviews his father about his experiences as a Polish Jew & Holocaust survivor. Lauded by critics & academics for both its art-style & its unique delivery of a vital narrative, Maus also has the distinction of being the first graphic novel to win a Pulitzer Prize.
