Workshop de los Muertos: Paint your own Calaca


Oak Cliff Cultural Center

The Oak Cliff Cultural Center honors departed loved ones with Workshop de Los Muertos series Saturday, October 20, and 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. Workshop de Los Muertos series is for all ages and explores crafts associated with Dia De Los Muertos altars.

The workshops are free, but space is limited. Dallas artist Eva Azul will lead participants in painting Day of the Dead Calacas. Participants will paint and decorate their very own Catrinas, made out of aluminum tin. Workshop is FREE and are open on a first come, first served basis.

The Oak Cliff Cultural Center’s 8th Annual Community Altar will be on display in the entrance of the center. Community members are welcome to contribute their creations and copies of personal photographs of passed loved ones to contribute to the altar.

About the Artist: Artist Eva Azul (Eva Pena) was born in Ciudad Victoria, Mexico and presently lives in the city of Dallas. As a child she was passionate about handmade art and the colorful culture of Mexico. As a result of her travels and explorations has enabled her to easily tap into her imagination, resulting in a very original and distinct style. This style, known as Naive, is mostly dedicated to children.
