Music of Aaron Copland


Church Street Performance Hall

The Odysseus North Texas Chamber Orchestra presents this concert featuring one of America's most beloved composers. 
This performance showcases the genius of Aaron Copland, his versatility and his multiple influences which includes jazz, in his Clarinet Concert which he composed for Benny Goodman. Evgeni Karelin, principal clarinetist of the Odysseus orchestra will perform this dazzling piece. 
Aaron Copland wrote for movies as well and the orchestra will perform his "Music for the Movies". This score contains 5 movements of pieces written for three movies: The City, Of Mice and Men and Our Town.  His influence of Folk music will be on display with his "Old American Songs" which includes songs like The Boatmen's Dance, The Dodger, Long Time Ago and Simple Gifts.  Soprano Agostina Migoni will sing the Old American Songs with the orchestra.
Last but not least, his fascination with Latin music and Latin rhythms will be on display with his "Three Latin American Sketches"
