Ludwig's Genius

University of Texas at Arlington - Department of Music

The University of Texas at Arlington hosts Mount Vernon Music in a concert featuring pianist Evan Mitchell on Monday, September 24 at 7:30 p.m. in Irons Recital Hall with music by Beethoven and Austrian composer Josef Labor. Titled “Ludwig’s Genius,” the program pairs Labor’s Quintet for piano and strings with Beethoven’s storied Piano Concerto No. 4. The audience will relive the birth of this ground-breaking masterpiece which amazed listeners when it was first heard. MVM promises a delightful experience quite unlike the first performance over 200 years ago which took place in freezing cold and lasted close to five hours!

Joining Mr. Mitchell will be Mark Miller and Yuko Mansell, violins; Ute Miller, viola; Elizabeth White, cello and Dr. Jack Unzicker, bass.

Admission to this event is free.
