Avant Chamber Ballet presents an exciting new collaboration and performance with Midway Camerata in Waco, Texas. The professional dancers of Avant Chamber Ballet will partner with twenty-nine musicians conducted by Beau Benson to perform two of ACB's most popular ballets!
The evening opens with George Balanchine’s Concerto Barocco, an iconic work by the most important choreographer of the 20th century. The score is Bach’s Double Violin Concerto which is one of the best-known works by the composer. It will be performed with violin soloists Kristin Mortenson and Amanda Schubert.
Also on the program is Katie Cooper’s reimagining of Appalachian Spring. It will feature Copland's 13 member orchestra suite arrangement and neo-classical dancing framing the story of Appalachia that Copland described when first creating this amazing music. When this ballet was premiered in February 2018, critics remarked that it was the “epitome of grace, artistry, and elegance”.
