Crockett Row to host 4th annual Chalk Art Festival, Sept. 29

West 7th

Join Crockett Row for an afternoon “chalk” full of fun at the 4th annual Chalk Art Festival! Attendees will get to see the evolution of elaborate chalk art designs created by talented street painters and enjoy family-friendly fun.

During the event, three professional artists will create large signature murals on the street, while amateur chalk artists will compete for the coveted people’s choice award and first, second and third place prizes. Artists interested in participating in the event can learn more and apply at bit.ly/chalkartfest18.

Other activities include:

  • Children’s chalk art area and an interactive photo booth sponsored by The Art Station
  • Music, games and prizes sponsored by 92.1 Hank FM from 12 to 2 p.m.
  • PoserKids Yoga classes and demonstrations
  • Live local music
  • Amateur artist awards ceremony at 4 p.m.

The winner of the people’s choice award will be determined by the amateur artist who receives the most votes in the form of donations to The Art Station, a Fort Worth-based nonprofit organization that offers individual and group art therapy and community programs to children and adults.

The Chalk Art Festival is just one way of the many ways that Crockett Row supports the local arts scene. Earlier this year, Crockett Row launched its public art program with a call for artists to create three signature murals on the property; murals will be completed in the coming months. Additionally, Crockett Row recently installed neon signage in the paseos to enhance wayfinding and hosted local yarn-bombing artist Amber Bailey who transformed a permanent sculpture into a nature-inspired installation.

Other upcoming public art projects include a kids’ art wall designed to inspire creativity amongst Fort Worth’s youngest minds and the city’s first “Before I Die” wall where locals and visitors alike can share their hopes for the future.

Crockett Row is also home to ART7, a satellite gallery of the Fort Worth Community Arts Center, a division of the Arts Council of Fort Worth.
