Big Empty Head

Arlington Museum of Art

"Big Empty Head" is an exhibition of mixed media work, sculpture and painting by Marilyn Jolly.  Jolly, a recently retired Associate Professor of Art at the University of Texas at Arlington, was head of the Painting area for 21 years.

Jolly says "My work deals with the awkwardness and uncertainty of being an imperfect being: aging, frailty of the body and mind. I am influenced by the Japanese concept of Wabi Sabi. It is an esthetic approach that embraces the idea of transience, the beauty of imperfection and evidence of wear and time".

There will be an opening reception August 24, 7:00 - 9:00pm.  The exhibition will run from August 25-November 18.
