Murakami Dinner

Dallas Fish Market

Join us for a five-course dinner created by Executive Chef Richard Triptow and inspired by the work of Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Murakami. Each course will be paired with a sake and a viewing of original artwork.

Japanese Pop Artist Takashi Murakami is well-known worldwide with his paintings commanding six to eight figures at auction today, an incredible fact considering he is still a young, contemporary artist with much promise still to come. He exploded into mainstream notoriety years ago collaborating with Louis Vuitton, Pharell Williams, Kanye West 'Graduation' Album cover and many other pop culture projects. Murakami's art is rooted in traditions of Japanese Paintings and folklore and highlights the artist's careful attention to craft and materials. It also showcases his astute eye for for the contemporary influences of globalization, media culture and the continued threats of nuclear power. Known for his vibrant, anime-inspired characters, Mr. Murakami blurs the boundaries between high and low culture, ancient and modern, East and West. Many in the art world refer to him as the Andy Warhol of Japan.
