Road Trip: Photographic Journeys of the Dead Photographers Society

Bath House Cultural Center

Reception with the Artists: Saturday, July 7, 2018 (7-9 PM).  Featuring live music by Johnny Sequenzia.

The Bath House Cultural Center presents Road Trip: Photographic Journeys of the Dead Photographers Society, an exhibition featuring fourteen art photographers who are part of a restless and spontaneous group from North Texas that explores new places and revisits old ones.  The exhibition features images taken in some of the most recent purposeful road trips that the group also calls “kerouacing with cameras,” an endeavor which allows the artists to journal their experiences while embarking on a trip without a predetermined destination.  The artists travel together and sometimes they travel alone.  The organizers of the exhibition say that it is not unusual for the group to get an unexpected message from a member with enticing announcements such as: “It’s Big Bend Time.  Leaving in the Morning!  Are you in?” that encourage the artists to get their camera gear ready for yet another fruitful and creative road trip.

The artist participating in the exhibition are Ken Blackburn, Jen Brimmage, Célia Dias, Guy Giersch, Peta Jones, Brian Magnuson, Roddy Parkson, Sonja Quintero, Sam Reeves, Sam Rogers, Terry Rouhier, Don Simmons, Nelson Spencer, and Steve Wriedt.
