Examine the art & water of the Southwest

The Taos Society of Artists (1915-1927) responded to the people and the land of the arid Southwest, both which have been shaped by water, or lack thereof. First, enjoy a presentation from Dr. Randall Griffin, Professor of Art History at Southern Methodist University, as he explores artwork from the Taos School and examines how artists like SRM’s Oscar Berninghaus captured the beauty of the Southwest desert while also referencing earlier models of art. Then learn more about the American Southwest and its ongoing relationship with water and conservation efforts with Dustan Compton, Regional Conservation Program Manager at the Tarrant Regional Water District. Afterwards, participate in an engaging Q&A with both guest speakers.
