Teatro Dallas and New Village Press will cohost a book launch July 9th at The Wild Detectives Bookstore in Dallas for the first English translation of Conversations with Diego Rivera: The Monster in His Labyrinth by Alfredo Cardona Peña. Billed as Una Tertulia, the event will feature dramatic readings from the book by Teatro Dallas actors and discussion with the late author's daughter Cora Cardona, granddaughter artist Sara Cardona, and award-winning writer Ben Fountain about how controversial artist and muralist Diego Rivera and renowned journalist and poet Alfredo Cardona Peña came to know one another in mid-twentieth-century Mexico.
The Wild Detectives, which is also a café and bar, will be mixing a special ¡Órale Diego! cocktail, The evening will also feature selected Mexican music from Diego Rivera’s era. The event is free and open to the public.
