Children's Day at the Theater

Irving Arts Center

Le Theatre de Marionette, an award-winning Texas original, brings to life a storybook puppet show unlike any other for Children’s Day at the Theater, presented by Irving Parks and Recreation and Irving Arts Center.  On this special day, theater-goers will reacquaint themselves with Dorothy’s magical journey to the Land of Oz in this musical marionette adaptation based on the now classic children’s storybook, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, by L. Frank Baum. Vividly presented with beautiful, hand-made string puppets, the story is sure to delight as Dorothy and her little dog, Toto, get swept into the Land of Oz by a cyclone. There, under the watchful guidance of Glenda, the Good Witch of the North, she meets a living Scarecrow in need of a brain, a rusty Tinman missing a heart, and a cowardly Lion desperate for courage. All while trying to get to the Emerald City to see the great Wizard. Dorothy’s enchanted visit to the strange and wonderful Land of Oz is threatened when she must confront the Wicked Witch of the West in order to find her way back home to Kansas.

Tickets are first come, first served and are available one hour before show time on the day of show.  No advance tickets will be offered.
