Voices of Change, the new music ensemble of Dallas, is joining with a stellar group of national chamber music ensembles to implement the Rapido! 14-day composition contest for the Southwest Region of the United States.
Rapid!® was founded by the Atlanta Chamber Players & The Antinori Foundation in 2009 to promote new chamber music compositions. After a break in 2016-17 Rapido! returns for its fifth cycle in 2018, presented by the Atlanta Chamber Players and The Antinori Foundation, with partner ensembles Boston Musica Viva, Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings (Chicago), and Voices of Change (Dallas).
The Rapido! contest challenges composers of all ages from all US states and Washington, DC to submit an original short work in just 14 days: musical form and instrumentation are specified when the contest begins in June. Regional finalist works compete at regional concerts, followed by a National Finals Concert with the national finalist from each of 5 regions competing. First prize is a $5000 Commission to expand the winning work for premiere performance by all 4 partner ensembles in their home cities the following season.
The 5th cycle of the Rapido Contest will be adjudicated by Atlanta Chamber Players for the Southeast region, Boston Musica Viva for the Northeast region, Voices of Change for the Southwest, and Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings for the Northwest.

08/15: Deadline for regional hosts to choose the semi-finalists
fall of 2018-19 season: concert featuring semi-finalists
January 2019: Finals in Atlanta
