Oil and Cotton Creative Exchange

Sunday, June 17 , 10am-4pm (lunch break included)
Location: 817 W. Davis Street #110
Instructor: Mike Morris
# of Students: 4 -10 students

In partnership with the Oak Cliff Film Festival, this workshop works to promote brave and independent filmmaking of all stripes in an atmosphere that encourages and fosters filmmaking in Dallas and beyond! Visit the Oak Cliff Film Festival website to learn more about the event and films.

This course will explore the basics of working with alternative emulsions on 16mm motion picture film. We will be focusing on the cyanotype process, as it is one of the easiest to manipulate, and a good jumping off point for further experimentation. Students will shoot and process a few images as black and white negative, learn to remove the existing emulsion on black and white print stock and how to apply new emulsion, and make positives with the cyanotype emulsion. At the end of the course, we will have collaboratively completed a roughly 3 minute film that will be transferred to video and uploaded online for student viewing. On account of the length of the workshop, there will be a scheduled lunch break. Pack a lunch or grab a quick bite across the street at BB Bop!

All materials are included in the price of the workshop.
