2018 DADA Scholarship Awards & Exhibition - Opening Reception and Ceremony

The Dallas Art Dealers Association (DADA) will honor 14 Booker T. Washington High School visual art students on May 10 from 6-8 p.m. 
Join DADA to celebrate talented young artists at the Awards & Exhibition - Opening Ceremony at One Arts in the Dallas Arts District May 10 from 6-8pm. The Exhibition will be on view May 6-18.  
With additional gifts and prominent exposure, the Edith Baker Art Scholarship is expanding its artistic influence. "My goal is to give young artists the opportunity for recognition, exhibition and scholarship," says Baker. "We created the scholarship in 2005 to give young artists access to mentors and funding to help them pursue higher education in art."  The Edith Baker Art Scholarship is a $5,000 award. Further enhancing the program is an additional award funded by gallery owners Kenneth Craighead and Steve Green. The Craighead Green Fund for the Arts awards a $2,500 scholarship to inspire a young artist a career in art.  DADA Excellence in Art award - $1,000.

Selected works are based on artistic originality, technique, presentation, and evidence of personal vision or voice. Three artists, whose work exemplifies confidence in their craft and a vision of their future goals will be awarded scholarships toward higher education in the visual arts.

Conner Chase, Connor Coleman, Lily Edwards, Cameron Eisenberg, Angie Fuentes, Wells Goetzmann, Molly Mitchell, Bernadette Negrete, Gabriela Noriega, James Page, Finn Segal, Daniela Segovia, Terrance Suber, Benjamin Vega.

"With the help of DADA Friends and other sponsors, we continue to enhance the scope of the awards both in gifts and outreach," stated Cathy Drennan, Executive Director of DADA. Adding more scholarships is the goal to provide young artists the opportunity to pursue a career in art.  It is the third year showcasing the student work at One Arts, thanks to the generosity of the Billingsley Co and Hamilton Sneed." Our prestigious jurors, Winter Rusiloski, Professor of Painting at Baylor University; Mary Tomás - artist and owner Mary Tomás Gallery; and Kenneth Craighead - designer and owner Craighead Green Gallery.  Additional thanks to scholarship committee, Rini Andres, Alberto Tomas and BTW visual arts coordinator, Kyle Clark.
