Children’s Art Escape at Artscape

Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden

While adults explore the vendors, artists and wine tastings of Artscape at the Dallas Arboretum, kids can enjoy arts and crafts in their own space during the Children’s Art Escape, April 28-29, at the garden.

This will be the second year for the Art Escape at the Arboretum’s spring art show. The craft area, which is free for festival attendees, is run by former Dallas ISD teachers. Last year the event included 12 former teachers, several of whom will return for this year’s Art Escape.

“We’re going to do paper bag hats again this year, but will also have new activities, like miniature rain sticks and 3-dimensional flowers for the younger children,” said Janice Wiggins, who organizes the event.

Wiggins, a retired DISD teacher, has plenty of experience with the arts--she worked with all grade levels, and served as visual arts coordinator for art teachers of Pre-K-12 grade. And, the crafts for Artscape are designed to be “make-and-take” to keep it easy for parents.
