D'JAM Open House - Dallas Jazz Appreciation Month

North Texas celebrates Dallas Jazz Appreciation Month (D’JAM) this April with events ranging from concerts and festivals to a visual art exhibit and film screening. The annual salute is highlighted by a free concert and open house from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Moody Performance Hall, 2520 Flora Street in the Dallas Arts District. The public event features:

  • Live music by four local jazz groups: Helbing Jazz Institute's Student All-Star Combo, Roger Boykin Trio, Kelly Durbin Quartet, Jazz Becuzz, Featuring Jason Davis with Mahogany
  • Free Jazz CDs and the new "Great Day in Dallas" poster, featuring nearly 70 local jazz artists photographed by Jesse Hornbuckle
  • D'JAM Jazz Legends Awards presentation: Sandra Kaye - Artist, Ed Soph - Educator, Teddy Davey (posthumous) - Supporter and Quamon Fowler - Innovator.

Now in its sixth year, D’JAM is sponsored by the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs, The Dallas Arts District Foundation and Communities Foundation of Texas to coordinate a series of events showcasing jazz in the greater Dallas community.
D’JAM is the local celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month which has been sponsored each April by the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History since 2004. Designed to draw public attention to American jazz as both a historical and living treasure, JAM is now held worldwide.
