Ro2 Art is pleased to present Shared Time, Then and Now, a group exhibition in tribute to artist Linda Dee Guy featuring new works by nine of her former students: Christopher Blay, Chris Bramel, Simeen Farhat, Etty Horowitz, DJ Perera, Alvaro Perez, Nathan Porterfield, Jason Reynaga, and Winter Rusiloski. The show will run from March 31 through April 28, 2018. There will be an opening reception held Saturday, March 31, from 7-10PM at Ro2 Art located at 1501 S. Ervay Street in Dallas’ Cedars neighborhood.
During her thirty-six years as a Professor of Art at Texas Christian University, Linda Dee Guy influenced the creative development of countless students, helping to grow their careers as artists. This exhibition of new works by former students, who are now professional artists, reflects the time shared between mentor and pupil; it is a symbol of shared time, then and now.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Christopher Blay is an artist, writer and curator with a B.F.A. from Texas Christian University. He has worked as curator for the Art Corridor Gallery at Tarrant County College Southeast for the past eight years, and is also an art critic for the Fort Worth Weekly Magazine. In 2013, Blay received the SMU Meadows Museum’s Moss/Chumley award for his “proven track record as an active community advocate for the visual arts,” and the Nasher Sculpture Center’s Artist Microgrant in 2015. Blay was also the Spring 2017 Visiting Artist at the Dallas Museum of Art’s Center for Creative Connections, and is the first guest curator at Fort Worth Contemporary Art.
Chris Bramel is a photographer from Texas specializing in panoramic landscapes, using the stitching and layering technique in Photoshop. In 2011 he received his BFA in Studio Art with a focus in photography from Texas Christian University where he received the Texas Christian University Nordan Merit Scholarship. He has also been awarded the Maryland College Institute College of Art New York City Summer Residency in 2010 and the George Grammar Award in 2009.
Simeen Farhat is an artist originally from Karachi, Pakistan. She received her BFA from Arizona State University in 1998, and her MFA from Texas Christian University in 2000. Simeen Farhat’s work has been collected and exhibited worldwide including Austria, England, India, Pakistan, Switzerland, and The UAE. In the United States, she has shown in numerous states including Arizona, California, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Simeen was invited to participate in an exhibition at the 2015 Venice Biennale, In the Eye of the Thunderstorm: Effervescent Practices from the Arab World, curated by Martina Corgnati. She is represented by Cris Worley Fine Arts in Dallas, Texas.
Etty Horowitz was born in Israel, and has lived in Fort Worth, Texas since 1993. She earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the Technion Institute in Israel, and then studied art at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and at the Royal College of Art in London. In 1996, she earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. Etty is an internationally recognized, award-winning sculpture artist and design architect consultant for urban community sculptures with a diverse exhibition record spanning 20 years.
DJ Perera is a Sri Lankan artist based in Fort Worth, Texas. In 2012 DJ graduated with his MFA in Painting with summa cum laude honors and honorary distinction from Pratt Institute, and received his BFA with cum laude honors from Texas Christian University in 2010. Before graduating from TCU, DJ held his first solo-exhibition at Ro2 Art and since then, his works have been proudly collected by many including most notably, H.E. Dr. Palitha Kohona, Sri Lankan Ambassador to the United Nations in New York.
Alvaro Perez is an artist and art educator residing in Laredo, Texas where he serves as an art instructor at Laredo Community College. He received an MFA in painting from Texas Christian University in 2007 and still holds close ties to the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
Nathan Porterfield is an artist native to Clarksville, Texas. He received his BFA with emphasis in printmaking from The University of Texas at Tyler in 2004, and his MFA in printmaking from Texas Christian University in 2008. Nathan currently resides in Arlington, Texas and is an adjunct art professor at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas.
Jason Reynaga received his BFA from Midwestern State University in 2004, and earned his MFA with an emphasis in non-traditional archival ink-jet printmaking from Texas Christian University in 2006. He is now an art educator at Wade College, where he has served as Design Division Director and Professor of Art since 2006. In 2012, he was appointed as an E.A.P. Advisory Panel Member at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center.
Winter Rusiloski was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and grew up in a rural setting outside of the city. Rusiloski earned a BFA in Painting and Related Arts-Dance at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and an MFA in Painting with a fellowship award at Texas Christian University and once again studied abroad at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest. Rusiloski joined the Baylor University Department of Art in the fall of 2016. She has exhibited nationally, internationally and is in numerous public and private collections throughout the United States. She is represented by Artspace 111 in Fort Worth, Texas and Mary Tomas Gallery in Dallas, Texas and lives with her husband and five daughters in West, Texas.

Mother-and-son partners Susan Roth Romans and Jordan Roth operate Ro2 Art, a contemporary fine art gallery located in The Cedars Neighborhood near Downtown Dallas, representing a diverse group of emerging, mid-career, and established contemporary artists – many with ties to the North Texas Region.
