May 5 Interior Painting: Color, Light, Space

Oil and Cotton Creative Exchange

Saturday, May 5, 3 – 6pm
Location: 817 W. Davis #110 Street
Instructor: Danielle Kimzey
# of Students: 4 - 10

In this class, students will paint an interior based on observation, memory, and imagination. After a short introduction to the history and methods of interior painting and painters, the instructor will demonstrate different painting techniques and possibilities for working with Holbein Acryla gouache paint. This paint is non-toxic and water-soluble and has the opacity of acrylic paint yet the matte finish of watercolor. The instructor recommends that students bring 8 x 8 inch printed color photos (on computer paper or photographic paper) of rooms or spaces that are meaningful to them from which to paint their paintings. Students also have the option to paint the Oil and Cotton studio space from observation as it has wonderful light and inspirational architecture.

The instructor will provide the Acryla gouache paint and a primed wood panel that is cradled in order to hang on your wall without a frame. At the end of class it will be ready to take home and admire!
