From Despair to Hope: 50 Years Later

Join The Texas Voices, Tyler Street Church sanctuary choir members, and other talented Dallas musicians for a hunger relief concert honoring the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. Proceeds benefit Bonton Farms, an urban farm in South Dallas, and the North Texas Food Bank.

The concert marks the 50th anniversary of the death of Martin Luther King, Jr. (January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968). Performances include His Light Still Shines by Moses Hogan; What Does the Lord Require of You by Tom Council; and selections from Only Heaven (with poetry of Langston Hughes) by Ricky Ian Gordon.

Performing choral artists include The Texas Voices chamber choir; Tyler Street Church sanctuary choir; and the Oak Clef Singers opera ensemble. Instrumentalists include the Astraios Chamber Music ensemble and organists James Loeffler and Shelton Weeks.

Admission is free. Food and monetary donations benefiting the North Texas Food Bank and Bonton Farms will be accepted.
