Bring your little ones for morning story time at The Wild Detectives. Jill Holston will read The Song and Dance Man by Karen Ackerman, which was the 1989 Caldecott award winning book.Published in 1988, the book is about a grandfather who tells his grandchildren about his adventures on the stage.
Jill Holston has taught in public and private elementary schools in the Dallas area for the past 25 years. She’s taught kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 4th grade. She’s currently a dyslexia teacher for Richardson ISD. One of her greatest joys in teaching is introducing students to the love of reading. She says that one of the biggest complements she’s ever received as a reading teacher was written in one of her 4th grade student’s composition: “She is a magnificent reader, when she reads to us I get lost in her words.”
It’ll be a 45 minute read followed by a short discussion with the kids–that’s going to be interesting, we can’t wait to see what they come up with.
All ages are welcome.
