Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body


Nicholson Memorial Library System - South Garland Branch

We all know brain health is important. Learn how to keep yourself healthy and your brain fit at the Nicholson Memorial Library’s Brain Awareness Month events.

The first event, held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20 at the South Garland Branch Library will feature a guest speaker from the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Dallas. The program, “Healthy Living For Your Brain and Body: Tips from the Latest Research’” will provide insights on how to optimize both physical and cognitive health through diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity, and social engagement.

The second event takes place at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 24 at the Central Library, and consists of an introduction and interactive tutorial on BrainHQ, the library’s online brain training resource. Patrons will learn how to download the app, set up an account, and be walked through the various games and features. Attendees can bring their own devices or use one of the Library’s iPads or laptops. Registration is required and is limited to 25 patrons. Please call 972-205-2501 to register beginning Saturday, March 10.

The South Garland Branch Library is located at 4845 Broadway Blvd. The Central Library is located at 625 Austin St., in Downtown Garland.
