Cris Worley Fine Arts is pleased to announce our second solo exhibition of minimalistic paintings by Houston-based artist Kristen Cliburn. Color as Light as Air, opens with an artist’s reception on Saturday, February 24, and will run through March 31th, 2018. T
In this recent body of work, Cliburn continues to explore color through subtle and minimal gradients, with particular attention to contrasting density and lightness, stillness and motion. In her own words, “Color floats, form dissolves, and time idles while a solitary experience of subtlety comes into view.”
The ephemeral quality of each work is underpinned by provocative titles such as With Peace, Double Bind, Sub Rosa that may lead the viewer to the artist’s intentions. Each individual work exists as though emerging from the air, as though pulled from nothingness into form, balancing light and color.
