Allen Mondell and Cynthia Salzman Mondell made BEAUTY IN THE BRICKS in 1981. The film is about the 4 teenage girls growing up in the West Dallas housing projects. It aired on KERA and is in schools around the country.

It was 1981. Olinka Green was 12 when she saw Beauty in the Bricks. The film sparked something within her.
Later on, she was placed in a West Dallas shelter. She was afraid. The girls in the film made her see herself differently. If they could hope, so could she.

Olinka planned this event so other young people could see that there is still Beauty in the Bricks. The film captures the history of a West Dallas that today is changing.
