The Dallas Historical Society and the African American Museum jointly welcome Dr. John Gruesser, Ph.D., editor of the scholarly edition of The Hindered Hand, Griggs biographer, and professor of English at Kean University.
Between 1899 and 1908, five long works of fiction by Dallas born Baptist minister Sutton E. Griggs appeared in print, making him the most prolific African American novelist at the turn of the twentieth century.
During the lecture, Dr. Gruesser will explore the scholarly edition of Rev. Sutton E. Grigg's novel The Hindered Hand; or, the Reign of the Repressionist.
