Henry VIII & Seven Sonatas

Bass Performance Hall

Texas Ballet Theater (TBT) will present a mixed repertoire March 2-4 at Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth, Texas. It features TBT company dancer Carl Coomer’s world premiere ballet, Henry VIII, together with Seven Sonatas, an iconic work of American Ballet Theatre’s Alexei Ratmansky.

Coomer’s world premiere is based on the notorious Tudor monarch, Henry VIII, and his six wives. The ballet is set to Gustav Holst’s famous work, The Planets, and will include a custom-built, Tudor-esque set, dramatic period costumes and 3D mapping and projections.

Henry VIII will be coupled with Seven Sonatas, choreographed by globally-renowned American Ballet Theatre Artist in Residence Alexei Ratmansky. This serene and graceful ballet is set to music by Domenico Scarlatti. In a special collaboration with the Cliburn, Sean Chen, third place winner of the 2013 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, will perform on stage with this TBT premiere.
