Hidden in the Landscape...

Hidden in the Landscape... is an exhibition of new works by Kansas-based artist, Linda Nickell.

“I am inspired by nature whether painting in a representational style or abstracting the image, I enjoy creating layers on the substrate that peek through or are hidden underneath reflecting the depth of creation in the world around us. Interpretation of organic shapes, forms, textures, colors and movement of the landscape motivates me to reveal my vision to the viewer through painting and mixed media collage. Although some of my paintings are created with oil paints, I primarily work with acrylic paints and mixed media which includes hand painted papers that I
have created ”

Linda currently resides in Leawood, KS and is employed at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art as a programs manager in the Education Department. With a degree in art education from Missouri State University and a fine art emphasis in painting and drawing, Linda enjoys opening the world of art to students of all ages through programs at the museum. Previous to employment at the museum, Linda was an art educator in public and private schools as well as a graphic designer for corporations in Kansas City. She has exhibited in several group and solo shows in the Kansas City and Dallas area with many of her works being held by private collectors in a variety of cities.
