Galleri Urbane is pleased to present Jeffrey Cortland Jones' exhibition titled "New Clear Dawn." Upon first glance, Cortland Jones’ paintings appear to be composed of layered blocks of white and grays with the occasional splash of color. Their clean presentation, sheets of acrylic floating away from the wall, further enforce a tendency to be perceived as minimal and stoic. Given further examination, however, and the works reward viewers with so much more: surfaces that fluctuate between matte and glossy, layers that have been painted, sanded, buffed, and scraped, and whites that reveals themselves to be anything but white. A full press release can be read here.
Join us for an opening reception for "New Clear Dawn" on Saturday, February 17th from 6:30-8:30 p.m.The exhibition is up until March 24.
Prior to the reception, the public is invited to an artist talk with Cortland Jones at 5:30pm, followed by a talk with Loring Taoka at 6pm on his exhibition opening in Gallery 1.
