Senior Social Hour

Nicholson Memorial Library System - Central Library

Senior citizens can enjoy an hour of country music played by guitarist Bill White at the Nicholson Memorial Library System’s Senior Social Hour program. Dr. White will appear at 2 p.m., on Thursday, Jan. 18 at the Central Library, 625 Austin St., in Downtown Garland.

Bill White is a guitarist who performs country music, including the songs of “Gentleman Jim” Reeves, who was married to White’s aunt. In addition to performing, White has a Doctor of Ministry degree and serves on the advisory board of the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame. He was named 2007 Entertainer of the Year by the Texas International Music Association. For this performance, White will present “The Sounds of Classic Country,” songs and stories of the classic artists of the golden age of country music.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, Senior Social Hour programs are free and open to anyone 55 years of age and older. Donations of gently-used books and media for the Friends of the Library book sale are accepted at the program. No registration is required to attend the event, but seats do fill up quickly. Doors open 30 minutes prior to the performance. Please be aware that photographs and video may be taken at Library programs for use in print and/or electronic media at the Library’s discretion.
