Help us kick off this exhibition at the opening reception January 19th from 6-8 p.m. and browse the artwork of four TCU MFA candidates: Kacie Baker, Daniel Bernard Gray, Bella Jones and Laura Vasyutynska. The exhibition will culminate February 17th with presentations from the artists at 1 p.m. All events are free and open to the public.

Baker is a social practice artist and painter. Her work explores her place in society based on her socioeconomic status and race—and what this identity demands of her societal role. A former high school science teacher, Baker works with a range of media to communicate with the natural spaces.

Gray, recently an artist-in-residence at AIR Frosterus, located Finland, examines the basis of conflict as the difference between people’s definitions of truth and reality. His art addresses the world in which we live—a world that is at once beautiful and terrifying, ordered and confusing, safe and violent.

Jones is a multidisciplinary artist with a strong emphasis on drawing and 2D work. Her work explores the conventional narratives that surround the body and human sexuality. Using an array of surreal imagery, Jones creates dreamscapes where feminine sensuality thrives in an uncorrupted way.

Vasyutynska is an accomplished visual artist who primarily works with oils on canvas, but also uses watercolors, graphite, and ceramics to create rich, vibrant artwork influenced her memories of the environment, history and experiences of the Ukraine, her native country.
