Kids in the Cliff gets ready for Christmas! Bring your little ones for morning story time at The Wild Detectives. Jennifer Stuart (director at Seeds Preschool) will read from Jan Brett’s Christmas Trolls.
Christmas is Treva’s favorite time of year, especially the preparations – finding the perfect tree, decorating the house, and making presents for her family. But this year is different. Small things are disappearing, then some of the presents themselves. Treva is mystified, until early one morning she sees a small creature scurrying across the snow, carrying the Christmas pudding. Treva races after it into the forest where her adventures are just beginning…
Christmas Trolls is a glorious celebration of the season as Treva confronts two irresistible trolls who don’t understand Christmas. Jan Brett’s exquisite paintings set against beautiful, intricate borders give readers a magical Christmas full of surprises.
(Look closely at the borders for glimpses of the trolls’ special little helper – and he’s not an elf!)
Jennifer Stuart is the director of Seed Preschool, a mobile nature school that meets at Twelve Hills Nature Center in Oak Cliff, in a retired school bus called Matilda. In a world where children spend far less time outdoors than generations before them, Seed Preschool offers a rare opportunity for nature immersion. Jennifer has engaged the minds of young children for over 25 years as a preschool director, teacher, and homeschooling parent. She practiced a green lifestyle long before it was the trend, in fact, it is a way of life. She tends her backyard farm with chickens and a garden of vegetables and native plants. She has a committed yoga practice and is a certified Texas Master Naturalist. She enjoys knitting, reading, and time with family and friends.
It’ll be a 25 minute read followed by a short discussion with the kids–that’s going to be interesting, we can’t wait to see what they come up with.
The book is geared for Preschool ages 3-5, but all ages are welcome.
On Saturday morning bring your kids and infuse them with a love for reading.
