Las Nalgas de JLo isn't pornography. It's the title of a column written by Barbara Renaud Gonzalez for the RUMBO newspaper chains in the 1990s-taking on the objectification of women, and reconsidering the meaning of "nalgas." Like her other columns, Renaud Gonzalez wields her TexMex into a socio-political sword-play that is feminist, Xicana, and downright funny. Originally from the Texas Panhandle, Renaud Gonzalez received her B.A. in Social Work from the University of Texas, Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg, Texas, and received by an MSW from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. A prolific author, Renaud Gonzalez lived in Dallas for 15 years and now resides in San Antonio. Lecture is free and open to the public.
