Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge

Butterfly Day at Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge (HNWR) Saturday, October 14, 10:00-4:00 PM

Butterflies will be celebrated at Hagerman NWR with a full day of free, family-friendly activities, including:

  • Guided Walks through HNWR’s beautiful butterfly garden, led by Garden Docents
  • Monarch Butterfly Tagging Demonstrations (weather permitting)
  • Storybook Walks Through the Forest
  • Butterflies Under the Microscope
  • Decorative Rock Painting Demonstrations
  • Wildflower Seed Stomp/Trail Walk
  • Butterfly Chalk Art
  • Crafts for all ages, including: Butterfly Origami, Painting a Plaster Butterfly, Making a Butterfly Finger Puppet
  • Presentations including: Butterfly Facts, Growing Milkweed and Gardening for Butterflies, and Monarch Migration
  • Native Plant Sale

Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge is one hour North of Dallas, and well worth the drive to the country.  While visiting the refuge enjoy the many amenities it has to offer: wild-life viewing, hiking, fishing, etc.
