Each week, more than 2 million North Texans listen to and watch KERA TV, KERA FM, KERA World and KXT 91.7 and access a broad network of websites, social media and mobile apps.
Alan Melson, KERA vice president of digital media and education, will walk us through the history of public broadcasting in the United States and KERA’s role in North Texas. He will explain how the organization operates and what stories are covered. He will also discuss the challenges facing public broadcasting in the 21st century, plus offer some previews of programs coming up this season.
Melson joined KERA as interactive manager in 2007. KERA’s digital footprint now reaches over 3.5 million users per year.
