Salute to the Duke: A John Wayne Movie Marathon


Irving Public Library: South Irving Library

Mosey over to South Library for a tribute to legendary screen star John Wayne, better known as "The Duke." The American film icon starred in more than 70 movies in a career spanning four decades. The western movie marathon opens with "The Searchers" (1956) at 10:30 a.m. Watch Wayne drive his cattle up the Chisholm Trail in "Red River" (1948), starting at 1 p.m. True Grit (1969), the classic movie based on Charles Portis' classic novel of the same name, is at 3 p.m. Light refreshments. Free.
