Mad Hatter Tea Party & Craft Workshop


Nicholson Memorial Library System - Central Library

The Mad Hatter, made famous by Lewis Carroll’s novel Alice in Wonderland, has his own holiday on Oct. 6! To honor the famous character, the Nicholson Memorial Library System will host two Alice-themed events.

The first event, held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Central Library will be a Mad Hatter tea party and craft workshop. Workshop attendees will decorate their own “Mad Hatter” stove pipe hat with ribbon, feathers, and index cards. Tea and cookies will be served during the workshop. Registration is required to attend this event, which is open to adult ages 18 and older. Registration begins Saturday, Sept. 23. Interested parties should call 972-205-2501 to register.

The second event, a screening of the Alice and Wonderland Disney film, takes place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14 at the South Garland Branch Library. This 1951 animated version of the film recounts Alice’s fall through a rabbit hole into Wonderland, her meeting with The Hatter, and her attempts to escape the Queen of Hearts. The film is rated G. All ages are welcome.
