Mu Phi Epsilon Concert: Tarleton Chamber Music

Featuring Iwao Asakura, baritone; Brian Walker, trumpet and Leslie Spotz, piano. Iwao Asakura, originally from Nagoya, Japan, has appeared as soloist in numerous opera and oratorio productions and been soloist with several orchestras including Gothan SINGS! Concert Series at Carnegie Hall. He specializes in lecture recitals on Japanese composers and their songs. He received his MMusic in Vocal Performance degree from Florida State University and is currently Associate Professor of Music (Voice) at Tarleton State University. Brian Walker is the Assistant Professor of Trumpet at Tarleton State University and co-founder of the Dallas Trumpet Workshop, held annually in July at Eastfield College. He received his DMA degree from UNT is an artist for the Bach division of the Conn-Selmer Corporation. Leslie Spotz, Professor of Piano at Tarleton State University, enjoys an international performing career that spans four continents. Receiving a full scholarship to the Curtis Institute of Music, Spotz studied for five years with the legendary, Mieczyslaw Horszowski. She completed her doctorate at Rutgers University in 2002. She frequently appears as solist with symphony orchestras around the world and as a collaborative pianist, most recently the Abilene Chamber Player.
