Abstract Comic Workshop

The Wild Detectives

Is it possible to tell stories using figures and abstract forms? Can diagrams relate conflicts, encounters or break ups? Join us to this workshop in which we’ll explore how to tell stories using abstract visuals.

This workshop will teach us different approaches and artwork by several artists about these ideas, and together, we’ll create a collective abstract comic. The workshop will be conducted by Verónica Gerber in conjunction with Oil and Cotton.

Verónica Gerber Bicecci is a visual artist who writes. Her pieces use various media to reflect on the visual politics of writing. Her book Empty Set won the 3rd International Aura Estrada Literature prize and will be published in English by Coffee House Press in February 2018, translated by Christina MacSweeney.

Workshop Capacity: 25 people (RSVP enabled soon).

Materials for abstract comic will be provided by Oil and Cotton.

Oil and Cotton is an art supply shop and center for education, offering art classes for kids and creative workshops for adults in Oak Cliff.
