Art & Words Collaborative Show Reception

Art on the Boulevard

Art on the Boulevard is proud to present its sixth annual Art & Words Collaborative Show, to run October 7-13, 2017 with a reception and reading from 6:00-9:00 PM on Saturday, October 7.

The Art & Words Collaborative Show pairs twelve writers with twelve visual artists. Each writer uses a work of art as inspiration for a poem, story, or essay, while each artist uses a piece of writing as inspiration for a work of art. The cross-genre collaboration results in forty-eight works—twenty-four pairs—of art and words. Poetry, fiction, painting, and sculpture will all be represented—as will various literary genres including science fiction, mainstream, fantasy, and horror.

Though previous years have seen writers and artists from various far-flung locales such as Hawaii and Australia, this year’s show focuses on Texans. Writers include Fort Worth-favorite Gayle Reaves-King, former Fort Worth Weekly editor and Pulitzer-Prize winner; Houston-based Cassandra Rose Clarke, author of such books as Star’s End and Our Lady of the Ice; Dentonite Spiderweb Salon organizer and poet Courtney Marie; Prosper Nebula Award-winner William Ledbetter; and Fort Worth’s Logen Cure, author of three poetry chapbooks: Still, Letters to Petrarch, and In Keeping. This year’s visual artists include Fort Worth macabre painter Paul Wolff; Denton multimedia artists Alex Stock and Stacy Tompkins; Art & Words favorites James Rosin and Jackson Zorn; and high school student Gabe Hales.
