Street Photography Workshop

Dallas Center for Photography

Join Dallas-based photographer Alex Hakimi for a truly unique filmstyle photography workshop focused on creating compelling documentary and street images. Alex has used film as his primary medium for the past several years. He believes that shooting digital in filmstyle can have a profound impact on the way we approach photography.

How do you shoot filmstyle with a digital camera?
Alex and his assistant will hand out memory cards for your digital camera that have just enough space left to shoot about 36 raw images. Then they will gently tape up your LCD display so you can’t review or delete your shots. You now have a digital version of a film camera! At the end of each shooting session, Alex will collect your memory cards and you won’t see your photos until the final session.

The workshop will take place on three days:
Day One: Wednesday, October 11, 6:30-9pm at DCP
Day Two: Saturday, October 14, 10:30am-2:30pm at the State Fair of Texas
Day Three: Sunday, October 15, 10:00am-12:30pm at Trader’s Village in Grand Prairie and 1:30-5:30pm at DCP
