Fans of J .R. R. Tolkien and Lord of the Rings enthusiasts can celebrate the eightieth anniversary of Tolkien’s The Hobbit, with two Tolkien-themed events this September at Garland libraries.
The second event, takes place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16 at the South Garland Branch Library, and features guest speaker Dr. David Oberhelman of Oklahoma State University. Oberhelman has given many presentations on Tolkien and fantasy literature in general. For this event he will provided an overview of Tolkien’s life and his major works.
This event is open to adults ages 18 and older. Children may attend with an adult.
