Famous Texas Writers and Some Not So Famous!

Dallas Public Library - Lochwood Branch

This staged reading is presented at Lochwood Library by the Bath House Cultural Center, in collaboration with the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs and the Dallas Public Library.

Texas has produced a number of famous and successful writers.  Perhaps the ones we know best are Katherine Anne Porter, Horton Foote, Patricia Highsmith, Larry McMurtry, and screenwriter Owen Wilson. There are certainly others equally as talented but not as famous. Texans love Frank Dobie’s work; Philip Atlee, born in Ft. Worth, wrote detective novels but his best work was “The Inheritors;” the glorious storyteller Ben K. Green, DVM, who tried to hide the fact that he had spent time in Huntsville, and finally Dillon Anderson, a successful Houston corporate attorney who wrote “I and Claudie.”
