The WD’s Book Club looks home for the next reading pick; The Dime, by local author Kathleen Kent, a crime thriller masterly set in a menacing, noir-like Dallas.
Kent neatly balances in The Dime the tough talk and high body count of a traditional hard-boiled detective novel, with the modern strength of this complex, flawed, and interesting protagonist, a red-haired Polish-Yankee lesbian, narcotics Det. Betty Rhyzyk, a tough-as-nails Brooklyn cop transplanted to Dallas.
As always, Book Club members (meaning you just show up) will enjoy a 10% discount on the next book club title and on every item they’ll ask for at the bar during the Book Club meeting.
Let’s meet up and indulge talking about our beloved city and its place in Literature.
