L'il Wayne Thiébaud Night

Stir Crazy Baked Goods

Stir Crazy Baked Goods presents Christopher Blay as their resident artist in August.

Blay is an artist, writer and curator with a B.F.A. from Texas Christian University. He has worked as curator for the Art Corridor Gallery at Tarrant County College Southeast for the past seven years, and also reviews art for the Fort Worth Weekly Magazine. His work incorporates photography, video, sculpture, and performance.

For the Stir Crazy residency, Blay will present three evenings of relational aesthetics, collaborating with other artists to transform the bakery into a culture lab each night.  The events will also feature Special Guest, dj lo-rez (Blay’s alter ego). The programs are as follows:

1.)   August 10: L’il Wayne Thiebaud Night. On L’il Wayne Thiebaud night we will explore the sultry tunes of L’il Wayne and have cake-decorating activities with designs that pay homage to artist Wayne Thiebaud’s style and L’il Wayne song titles.

2.)   August 17: Beats and Deets: Beats and Deets is an evening of art and history with beats and baked goods.  Six presenters, six minutes each, revealing the interesting histories of confections in art, along with art bearing more than a hint of sweetness. Collaborators include Doctors Lauren Cross, Lori Diel, Anne Helmreich, Jessica Fripp and artists Fabiola Valenzuela and Erica Stephens.

3.)   August 24: Bake Your Privilege Night. On the final night of the residency, five artists will work from one recipe, and each artist’s ingredients list will be increased or decreased by the percentage of participation they represent.  Participating artists will be announced on August 10.
