After Dark: Heroes and Heroines

Crow Museum of Asian Art

Long before there was Wonder Woman, Batman, Spiderman, or the Hulk, there was Jizo, Benzaiten, Ebisu, Lady Tokiwa, and Lady Murasaki. Stop by the Crow Collection of Asian Art and learn all about the famous heroes and heroines from Japan that can be seen in our newest exhibition, Styled with Poise: Figures in Japanese Paintings and Prints. Come early and watch a Japanese woodblock printmaking demonstration by artist Kazuko Goto, and make your own prints using a secret ingredient. Then stay late for a screening of Miss Hokusai, the untold story of O-Ei, daughter of the Japanese painter Hokusai, known for his 36 Views of Mount Fuji series, including The Great Wave Off Kanagawa, the most-reproduced Japanese artwork in history.
