Tween Scene

Nicholson Memorial Library System - South Garland Branch

Tech-savvy tweens can put their STEAM skills to good use this July as the Perot Museum’s Tech Truck visits the Nicholson Memorial Library System’s Tween Scene events.

The Tech Truck is a mobile extension of the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. The truck, which is outfitted with technological gadgets and equipment like 3-D printers and laser cutters, visits community centers and libraries to give kids a hands-on experience with STEAM technology.

The Tech Truck will appear at the Garland Library’s Tween Scene events and offer attendees creative, scientific, and maker-based activities related to robotics. The first Tween Scene event will take place at 6:30 p.m. on July 6, at the South Garland Branch Library, with the second occurring at 4 p.m. on July 13, at the North Garland Branch Library. Both events are free of charge, though registration is required and limited to 20 tweens ages 10 to 13. Registration begins two weeks before each event at the location where the event will be held.

The South Garland Branch Library is located at 4845 Broadway Blvd., at Oates Road. The North Garland Branch Library is located at 3845 N. Garland Ave., at Apollo Road. Please be aware that photographs and video may be taken at Library programs for use in print and/or electronic media at the Library’s discretion.
